New WildeTimes episode up...September 8, 2006

New episodes of Wilde Times are up at www.wildetimes.com -- going on 17 episodes now as we follow the misadventures of Rex-- a lone imp whose journey to find his own kind leads him into all kinds of trouble! I think you'll really like his misadventures and want to keep on seeing just how long he can avoid death in the process. The strip is totally free-- when you get to the site, just click on the Rex and Gwen statues, like the ones pictured here on the left and enjoy! There's also a pretty huge list of imps from Rex's world that he's eventually going to discover as well-- bonus!

Blast from the Past...September 7, 2006

It's always good to know where you came from-- and even though I currently enjoy a most humble art career ( I'm assuming that once I'm really rich and famous, I'll become a total snob...but until then...) --my career started even more humble, but no less fun-- as you can see by this months "Blast from the Past" segment... I was just starting to get knee deep in parody comics and was given the task of drawing the Death of Stupid-Man. Yes, good times...but scary-- one day I might hope to draw comics for DC...so hopefully they'll forgive a starving artist of having a little fun at their expense.  ( These were my first real gigs! ) This was back in 1992, according to the signature on the painting, which is like 13x18, or something close to that...and I had to scan it in pieces, so you notice some bordering or blurs on the image-- computers hadn't come into the business yet and I was still hand painting and airbrushing the line-art for the covers. ( And sending the original art to the printer to place the logo and...man, how did I ever manage without my own computer?!) --anyways, this piece is depicting a funeral scene...the phone booth replaces Supes coffin, and most everybody has an "S" on their costume for the memory of their fallen hero. I think my favorite part is the parody version of Lobo spray-painting "Out of Order" on the coffin-- this thing took forever to paint-- hope you enjoy:)

Site Update...September 2, 2006

Got a couple things going on with the webpage lately... an update! Who-hooo-- it's been a while, but there's a lot to get done and the web-site falls pretty far back on the list. The updated pages have new graphics and will, hopefully, be easier to navigate around and enjoy-- the links page, obviously has a LOT of links that can be added to it and the gallery page needs more new stuff as well-- the links are still up for the off-site galleries and I should be able to put up some more news soon about what's going on and what's new. Also-- be sure to check out the latest episodes of WILDE TIMES at www.wildetimes.com  --it's totally free to check out and I think you'll really like it! Take care and hope you enjoy the site:)

COMIC-CON pics...Aug. 4. 2006

Comic-Con was a real blast this year-- so crowded on Saturday that the Fire-Marshall actually closed down the registration area and turned people away! That's just un-REAL... I remember how big it was the first time I came out San Diego--but this is a whole new thing. At least I got to take a few pictures and show you how it was...hope that you enjoy them-- they're in a scrapbook kind of layout ( cause I needed to post them quickly ) so I hope that you don't mind. I want to give a big thanks to Shocker Toys for having me with them this year-- I'm really looking forward to the next couple of years-- lots of new stuff going on and coming together:) I had a great time meeting a lot of new people and seeing a bunch of you that I only get to see once a year-- at least in person! So enjoy the gallery and I'll get back to work-- see you all on the next update and many thanks for the great support and for enjoying the art!

SHOCKING...July 11. 2006

Comic Con in right around the corner and I'm really excited to be able to go-- and hopefully see a lot of you there that have been supporting me all these years and meet a bunch of new people. I love San Diego-- so I can't wait. This year I can be found at the Shocker Toys booth @ # 5488-- the times I'm scheduled are Friday--2:30-3:30  and Saturday--2:30-3:30. Hopefully I'll be allowed to hang out there longer than that, but those are my official times. Please stop by and show your support--I'll be signing and sketching for as long as they let me:) --which begs the question...what the heck is Bill doing at Shocker Toys booth to begin with?? That's the fun part-- Shocker Toys is starting a new line of action figures featuring indie characters--and Nira-X is headed for plastic heaven once again! Up to 20 points of articulation and all her sexy self intact-- so if you can get you and all your friends to stop by the booth and express your support for the New Nira-X action figure--not only would I be really flattered--but Nira would be happy too!  Ive gotten as far as designing the first set of drawings for the new figure, which Im hoping to have there at the show and post here on the site so you can get an idea of how she's going to look. The figure is also going to come with its own full-color comic book that you can only get with the figure-- a very important NEW chapter in the Nira-X Universe that kicks off the series anew! Check out www.shockertoys.com for any new details and of course, right here on my home page:)

billmausart at MySpace.com...May 17. 2006

I have a new MySpace page at www.myspace.com/billmausartspace --seems like everybody does at this point, so I feel a little bit yesterday for not having one already. Seems like a cool way to be connected and be able to put faces to all the years of emails that have floated back and forth. Im still keeping the Yahoo!forum page active at the same time, so this isn't a replacement, just another way to stay connected to everyone. The Yahoo! group will still be at --                                              http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BillMausArtgroup/

Looking forward to seeing you on the Space-- and see you on the next update:)

Site Restructure...March 28. 2006

Some of the links and areas of the site are coming back online--sorry for the delay, switching to the new host server had some sobering moments--like realizing that back-ups of most, if not all, of the data was instantly vaporized...and I was getting that checklist together so nicely too--hmmph. The closest checklist available now is over at our #1 fan-site, www.nira-x.net. They have tons of Nira-X covers and misc art to look at-- stuff you can't find anywhere else:) Its really cool, so go and check it out. I'll have links to most of our major sponsors and supporters on the main page, once I get that far with putting the site back together again.

April's Updates...March 24. 2006

Back Online and feeling a little bit better about the learning curve involved in putting together a web page that we can all enjoy. I appreciate everybody's patience and support--it feels like forever since the schedule has felt balanced out, but it's almost there. There always seems to be a time of the year when a few more projects than expected bottle-necks into a two month spread...and I don't want to do anything less than my best, so things end up falling a little behind. I hate being later than expected...but I really don't want to crank out work that we'll be unhappy about either. ( Not that I don't always have room to improve-- but you know what I mean. ) Everybody has been super-cool about everything and that makes me very happy to get to it and get these projects ready for summer time and let you know what's coming out and when:) I will still post at the Yahoo! Forum since that is where a few of you are used to checking up on things...I'll post details here and get a little more in depth about stuff...but at least I will post up "when" there's something new on the site to check out. The Gallery area gets updated the most often-- so that's a good place to find new stuff to see when there is no " news" posted here on this page... that, and I just discovered that M&M's aren't considered "food" ... where did THAT come from?

  About the Artist...kinda'...

Bill Maus debuted his first professional comic book art for Eclipse Comics, drawing a small group of parody themed books. Up to that point, Bill Maus had drawn through school and had eventually gotten an Associates Degree in Commercial Media Advertising Arts, with additional training and experience in Fine Art, Film Making, Photography, and Broadcasting. After moving to San Diego in 1991, he began a career in art that included air-brushing t-shirts at a mall, working at an animation studio (AFT: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.) ,to drawing caricatures at major theme parks-- an experience that was some of the best in developing his skills and confidence as a cartoonist. During that time, after the first Eclipse Comics issues came out, Bill Maus was enlisted into Parody Press writing and drawing dozens of comics and later co-founded Entity Comics where he debuted his first science-fiction works reinventing Zen: Intergalactic Ninja, where he was even allowed to introduce characters of his own, including his fan-fav character Nira-X: Cyberangel. The Nira-X character went on to star in over 30 of her own self-titled comics ( I lose track ) ! Bill Maus has also written and drawn many books for Zen Comics, SSS Comics, Avatar Press, Best Sellers Illustrated, Beta-3 Comics as well as many others, including independent and small press companies--both in print and online. Bill Maus has also had the chance to develop and design a variety of action figure lines based on some of the books that he's worked on, such as Nira-X, Mercy, Allura and Webwitch.

Currently, Bill Maus lives on the east coast , working on new projects... and bringing some older ones up to date. Lots of commissions take up the spaces in between. You can always catch up with him at the San Diego Comic Con every year doing sketches and you can see what else is new with him online at www.billmausart.com

You can use this image to link to my site. Thanks so much to everybody for the great support!
